• Active in lobbying efforts to increase state education funding

Member, San Mateo County Committee on School District Reorganization

• Appointed in July 2006 to fill a vacancy and reappointed to a four year term in December 2006

• This committee considers proposals to change the boundary lines for SMC school districts

Member, San Mateo County Blue Ribbon Committee on Autism

• Appointed to the commission in October 2006

• Commission is developing recommendations for improving services to children and young adults with autism

Member, Special Education Task Force to the County Superintendent of Schools

• Task force convened in the Spring 2006 to make recommendations to the County Superintendent of Schools concerning the operations and costs of the special education programs offered by the San Mateo County Office of Education
