FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

At it’s September 18th meeting, the Legislative Council of the San Mateo Union High School District Teachers Association voted overwhelmingly to endorse Dave Pine and Steve Rogers for the SMUHSD Board of Trustees election this November.

The election of Dave Pine and Steve Rogers to the San Mateo Union High School District Board of Trustees is critical to the students and teachers of our district. They are both strong leaders and strong voices for education. Dave Pine has shown his mastery of educational issues with his time on the Burlingame School Board. Steve Rogers showed his incredible insight and creativity while serving on the SMUHSD Budget Advisory Committee. Both of these candidates have strong records and reputations as critical analyzers of complex educational and financial issues. Our district has faced a severe financial crisis under the current Board of Trustees, and competent, thoughtful, financially-savvy Board members are required to steer us toward financial stability.

Of the four candidates running for the Board of Trustees, Pine and Rogers stand out as the best options for the two seats that are up for election. They bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to a Board that is trying to resolve and move forward from the district’s financial crisis. Pine and Rogers would be welcome additions to our Board.
