Statement

I want to use my expertise in education, business and law to help the San Mateo Union High School District (SMUHSD) return to financial health and provide all students with the skills they need to thrive in a competitive global economy.

The SMUHSD is at a critical turning point. New leadership on the School Board is badly needed. I would appreciate your support and vote.

I would bring to the SMUHSD a long record of educational leadership and business experience. I am the President of the Burlingame School Board, co-chaired three successful education parcel tax/bond campaigns, and was an education policy advisor for a gubernatorial candidate. Professionally, I am an attorney and a former vice president of three publicly traded Silicon Valley technology companies.

Talented teachers and financial stability are two pillars of a great school district.

Unfortunately, the SMUHSD has been plagued by fiscal mismanagement and poor construction oversight, which in turn has hurt teacher morale. As a Board member, I will watchdog all expenses, make sure construction projects are managed responsibly and within budget, and do everything I can to support our teachers in the classroom.
